Wynonna Shows Some Love for Kacey Musgraves, Lady Antebellum and Little Big Town

Image Courtesy Big EnterprisesWynonna won’t be chasing country radio airplay with her next studio album, but that doesn’t mean she’s not up to date on country’s current landscape. In an interview with Rolling Stone Country, Wynonna says she loves the humor in Brad Paisley‘s music and considers Blake Shelton to be “the brother I never wanted but I’m so glad I have.”

As for today’s current country female acts, Wy says, “I love Kacey Musgraves and the fact that at her age she’s doing stuff that I didn’t have the guts to do. I love that she’s controversial and she’s, oh my goodness, singing about what? I couldn’t do stuff like that because my mother would have said no!”

Wynonna is also a fan of Lady Antebellum because of Charles Kelley‘s voice. She adds, “Little Big Town is still my favorite in terms of harmony.”

As for her own music, Wy recently released a song called “Follow Me” from the film The Hornet’s Nest. She’s currently working on a full-length project with her band, The Big Noise.

Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley Steps Up to the Mic on Traditional-Leaning Single, “Dirt”

Image Courtesy Jeremy Cowart/Republic NashvilleFlorida Georgia Line‘s brand-new single, “Dirt,” finds the duo taking a step back from the party anthems that shot them to fame to deliver a sentimental, straight-ahead country song. The lyrics speak to the whole of life from falling in love to welcoming a child to saying goodbye to a loved one.

FGL’s Brian Kelley tells ABC News Radio, “It feels like country music. It feels like the natural progression. Sixth single leading after Here’s to the Good Times, it kinda continues — shows a little maturity, a little different side.”

Brian also sings lead on the second verse of “Dirt” — something he’s never done before on an FGL single. Since his duo partner, Tyler Hubbard, has taken lead vocals on every hit so far, Brian doesn’t see a reason to mess with that winning formula too much.

“That’s kind of the way we’ve branded the thing, and that’s the way it sounds the best, to be honest with you,” Brian says. “This is one of those things we kind of like switching off. We did that back in the day, and two is always better than one.”

Plus, trading vocals on a love song like “Stay” or “Get Your Shine On” just wouldn’t sound right.

Says Brian, “If you’re coming in singing about a girl in the second verse, it can be a little weird if there’s two guys and it’s a duo.”

“Dirt” is the lead single from Florida Georgia Line’s upcoming album, which will feature more of the duo’s classic, rocking sound.

Brian adds, “We can promise you that after this single, the party’s coming.”

Look for Florida Georgia Line’s sophomore album to come out this fall.

Chris Young Found the Love Song He Was Looking for in “Who I Am with You”

Image Courtesy RCA RecordsChris Young was looking for a love song to round out his latest album, A.M., when a friend of his sent over “Who I Am with You.” Once he heard the track, Chris knew immediately he’d found the right song to fit that slot.

He says, “It’s something you wanted to [do the] first dance at a wedding to. That’s kind of what I heard the first time I heard this. I was like, ‘God, this is such a cool song.'”

“Who I Am with You” is the follow-up to “Aw Naw,” the rocking lead single from A.M.

“I’m so glad this is the second single, because it does give you a little bit of a look at the different things that are on this album,” Chris explains. “We led with a big, uptempo party rock song. This song, it is a love song from start to finish.”

Chris thinks everyone can relate to the song’s lyrics about that special someone who makes you become a better person.

He adds with a laugh, “I wish I had written it.”

Chris will perform “Who I Am with You” at Dierks Bentley‘s Miles & Music for Kids benefit concert September 28 in Nashville.
