The Band Perry Describes New Music Just “Around the Corner”

Image Courtesy Republic NashvilleWith the first single from their third album due to come out just “around the corner,” The Band Perry says we can expect a “less is more” approach from their new music.

“[It’s] very minimalist in the sense that we're leaving a lot of space in both the visuals and the sound of the music as well,” Reid says, describing their concept for the CD.

“I love minimalism 'cause anyone can find their own taste and their own love in something that's minimalist,” Kimberly interjects. “So, we're gonna leave enough blanks for people to use their imagination and take away from it what they want. We're chasing melody more than ever before [in] the sound of the records,” she adds.

While the siblings may be simplifying their approach to the music, they admit they’re branching out when it comes to the way they look.

“We are known as the black leather country band, but we are starting to incorporate more colors,” Neil says, “And me as, like, the visual guy, that's really exciting, 'cause you have so many more options with that.”

Reid confesses it is a bit more challenging for the guys, joking they’re both color blind.

Garth Brooks Wears Whatever He Wants

Image Courtesy Pearl RecordsAt this weekend’s ACM Lifting Lives Gala in Dallas, Texas, Garth Brooks sported the signature of his hero, George Strait, on his collar.

“Am I not George Strait? I thought I was,” he joked. “I've wanted to be George forever.”

“Can I call you George tonight? Is that all right?” wife Trisha Yearwood chimed in, and the Entertainer of the Year nominee answered affirmatively.

He was actually wearing a western shirt from Strait’s line, something Garth knows a little about, having partnered with an Oklahoma company to offer the Sevens Collection, which replicates some of the iconic fashions he’s worn throughout his career. But so far, he hasn’t lent his name to a line of clothing.

“You know what, I just never have really, I guess, done it. We've done things with Maury with the Mo Bettas. He's got a new line out now for the new tour, so we're wearing his stuff, too.”

Garth confesses what he really enjoys is putting on whatever fits his mood.

“What I like is being free to wear whatever you want. So, if you want to put on a George Strait, or you want to put on a Wrangler, old-school kinda thing, then you can wear it. And that's what I like,” he says.

For the next two weekends, Garth’s world tour stops at Bryce Jordan Center in State College, Pennsylvania.
