“The King” George Strait was honored with Entertainer of the Year at Wednesday night’s 47th Annual CMA Awards. The legendary singer looked genuinely shocked as he took the stage to accept the award from ABC’s Robin Roberts.
Backstage, George told reporters he was speechless when he heard his name called.
George is currently in the middle of The Cowboy Rides Away Tour, which is his farewell from touring, but not recording music. He joked backstage that winning the award might make him change his mind about retiring from touring.
Blake Shelton says he’s happy to lose Entertainer of the Year to George Strait.
